Jaguar . How to Change a Fuel Filter on a Honda CRVReplacing your vehicle's fuel filter regularly is a critical part of any vehicle maintenance plan. The Honda CRV is no exception. The manufacturer suggests replacing the fuel filter every 30,000 miles to prevent engine damage and ensure peek fuel efficiency. The replacement can be accomplished in about 30 minutes. By performing this replacement yourself you can save money versus paying a professional to do the job. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Crescent wrench 7/16-inch socket wrench Two car ramps Two tire stops Towel Step by Step : 1 Align the car ramps with the rear tires and slowly drive onto the ramps. Place the tire stops in front of the front two tires to secure the vehicle. Turn off the vehicle and raise the hood. 2 Locate the fuse box and remove the fuse that controls the fuel pump. Start the vehicle and allow it to idle until the engine stops. This clears the fuel lines of excess fuel, preventing spillage. 3 Find the fuel filter located under the rear of the vehicle, behind the driver's side tire. Use your socket wrench to remove the mounting bracket from the outside of the fuel filter. 4 Using the crescent wrench remove both fuel lines going into the filter. Remove the old filter and insert the new one. Reattach the fuel lines and secure. 5 Reattach the fuel filter mount using the socket wrench. Reinstall the fuel pump fuse and lower the hood. Remove the tire stops and start the vehicle. Slowly pull off from the car ramps. Tips & Warnings Use a towel to clean up excess fuel spillage.
Jaguar . How to Change Out the Fuel Filter on a 1994 Honda AccordChecking and changing the fuel filter on your 1994 Honda Accord is essential to good car maintenance. The fuel filter is situated along the fuel line; as fuel travels from the fuel tank to the engine, it is strained through the fuel filter. The filter cleans the fuel of impurities before sending it to the engine. With time and the proper tools, changing the fuel filter on your Accord can be a simple process. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Flare nut or line wrench Gloves Protective eye wear Step by Step : 1 Park your Honda Accord in a safe area on level ground. Make sure that the area is well ventilated or outdoors. Engage the parking brake to prevent your vehicle from rolling while you are changing the filter. Unscrew the gas cap from the gas tank to relieve the pressure in the fuel filter. Open the hood and disconnect the negative cable from the battery unit. 2 Look under the hood on the driver's side of the engine for the fuel filter. The filter is mounted along the fuel line near the rear corner of the engine compartment. Trace the driver's side of your engine until you get to a black or silver cylinder; this is the fuel filter. 3 Loosen the banjo bolt--where the fuel filter connects to the fuel line--with a flare nut or a line wrench. As you loosen the banjo bolt, set aside the banjo bolt, washers and service bolts for later use. Loosen and remove the fuel filter clamp bolt that secures the filter to the mounting bracket. Discard the fuel filter. 4 Replace the old fuel filter with a new filter. Simply slide the new filter into the mounting bracket. Secure the filter in place with the fuel filter clamp bolt, which goes on top of the filter. Secure the fuel line to the filter with a banjo bolt. Use a new set of washers when attaching the fuel line to the filter. 5 Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. Tighten the gas cap back to the fuel tank. Turn your vehicle on and allow it to idle for a few minutes to pressurize the fuel filter. Tips & Warnings For your protection, wear protective eye wear and gloves when changing your fuel filter. Keep open flames and lit tobacco away while changing the fuel filter on your vehicle.
